This week in Rabbit class we have learnt what the word ‘belong’ means. We spoke about how some people find belonging in religions. We role played the Christian ceremony of Baptism. The children learnt what happens at a Baptism and how the person is welcomed into Christianity.

Lots of maths

This week in maths we have been making equivalent values using addition and subtraction. The children explored using Cuisenaire rods, choosing a number, and finding different ways of making the number. For example, they learnt that to make 7, they could add 6 + 1 or 5 + 2 or even 8 – 1. 

Winter poems

This week in computing, we have been recreating the work of Wassily Kandinsky using iPads. We have learnt which tools are better to use. We have also been practicing our Christmas songs ready for the Christmas play!

Colour counters in Maths

This week in Maths, we have been learning how to fill out a part-whole model. The children worked in partners and found the two parts by using two different colour counters on a tens frame. They then had to work out the whole by adding the parts together. 

Gruffalo Crumble

This week in Rabbit class, the children followed simple instructions to make ‘Terrible Tusks’ from the book ‘Gruffalo Crumble’. They then worked hard to write their own instructions using bossy verbs such as cut, chop, mix and eat.
