Parkgate Pirates

  • World Book Day

    This week, the children had lots of fun celebrating the World Book Day by reading fairy tale stories, creating their own story while playing with the castle and the pirate ship and completing lots of creative activities and colouring pictures from famous fairy tales. 

  • New resources

    This week, the children have been excited to play with the new wraparound club resources.
    They have particularly enjoyed building vehicles using the new Meccano set, drawing and writing on the new magnetic boards and playing with the new tea play set.
     
  • National Storytelling Week

    This week, we celebrated ‘National Storytelling Week’ by reading lots of traditional tales with the children and the children enjoyed participating in various topic related activities. They particularly enjoyed playing the game of ‘Fairy Tale Bingo’.

  • Chinese New Year

    This week, we have been learning about Chinese New Year.
    The children particularly enjoyed making their own puppet theatre and puppets and they had lots of fun acting out the story from the book called ‘Story of the Chinese Zodiac – The Great Race’ by Christopher Corr.
     
  • Robin’s Winter Song

    This week, we have been talking to the children about the winter season and specifically about robins as they are one of the few birds that sing in the winter. The children enjoyed reading the ‘Robin’s Winter Song’ book, making their own bird masks and creating a winter landscape picture using a paper plate, coloured paper, glue stick, scissors and their fingers. We used these to decorate our Parkgate Pirates display board.  

  • The Day The Crayons Quit

    This week, we have been reading “The Day the Crayons Quit” by Drew Daywalt and the children really enjoyed learning about the importance of respecting each other’s needs and wishes.They completed lots of lovely activities related to the theme of the book.

  • Making Christmas cards

    This week, we have been busy with lot sof diffferent Christmas arts and crafts. Children were invited to make their own snowman Christmas card and write a message in their card for their families. 

  • Healthy Eating

    This week’s wraparound club theme was ‘Healthy Eating’.
    The children enjoyed reading the story about ‘The Smelly Sprout’ followed by making their own key ring sprout using bright green cotton wool.
    They participated in other topic related activities which made them think about the difference between healthy and unhealthy food choices. 
     
  • Football World Cup

    This week, we have joined the rest of the school in celebrating the FIFA World Cup 2022 and the children really enjoyed colouring in their favourite famous footballer players and designing their unique football shirts. 

  • Children in Need – People who help us

    This week’s Wraparound Club theme was ‘Children in need – People who help us’ and the children really enjoyed taking part in colouring and cutting out their own Pudsey Bear. They had great fun making a Pudsey Bear pencil holder.
