23 June 2023 - Sharing a shell
This week we have been exploring the story 'Sharing a Shell'. We have been learning all about creatures under the sea.
We have been using the interactive white board to count the amounts of sea creatures.
16 June 2023 - Father's Day
We have been talking about all the wonderful things we like to do with our dad's. We made a special card where we painted our hands to make handprints and carefully wrote our names. Because our Dad's are The Best Hands Down!
9 June 2023 - The snail and the Whale
We have been learning about the story of The Snail and The Whale. We made our own snails using salt dough and then carefully painted them.
5 May 2023 - Celebrating the Coronation
In Nursery we have really enjoyed learning about the coronation. We made crowns and dressed up like kings and queens. Our week ended with an indoor street party.
21 April 2023 - Eggs
This week we took delivery of some eggs and an incubator. When we came in to school on Wednesday one chick had hatched. On Thursday all the chicks had hatched.
31 March 2023 - Easter
We have been learning all about Easter and have created and decorated Easter eggs, cards, baskets and chicks. Have a lovely easter break!
24 March 2023 - Beware of Giants
Our beanstalks have grown so much! We now need to look after them at home. They will need water and sunlight and a cane to grow up.
17 March 2023 - Mother's Day
We have been thinking about our amazing Mum's and what we enjoy doing with them. We hope you like your mother's day cards and photo gift.
10 March 2023 - Author's visit
We had the wonderful author Alice Hemming who visited our class and read us a book. She had some amazing props with her to go with the story. The Nursery children really enjoyed the session.
3 March 2023 - Jasper's Beanstalk
Jaspers Beanstalk
We read the story of Jasper's beanstalk; where he plants a broad bean, and it doesn't grow. We planted our own beans and learnt that they need warmth, water and soil to grow. The roots have started poking through which is a good sign. We played in the soil with the tractors. We also learnt about brushing our teeth as part of our healthy me topic.
24 February 2023 - Mr Wolf's Pancake Pancake Day!
We read the story of Mr Wolf's Pancakes in preparation for pancake day.
The children helped with mixing the batter for the pancakes. Once the pancakes were cooked, the children tasted the pancakes with a choice of different toppings. We ended pancake day with pancake flipping competition.
10 February 2023 - The Little Red Hen
We have been exploring the story The Little Red Hen. In the story the hen makes bread and we have been making bread too.
Once baked the children spread butter on the bread and tasted it. We also tried different types of bread as well as mixing flour and water to create a dough. It got very messy!
3 February 2023 - Trip Trap, Trip Trap over the bridge
We have been reading the traditional tale 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff'. We explored different versions of the story. Built our own bridges using blocks, bricks and playdough. Painted and drew trolls. We also have continued to develop our joining skills using glue.
27 January 2023 - Grandma what big eyes you have!
We have been learning about the traditional tale ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. We have been looking at the different versions of the story. We have been role playing the story with masks and puppets. Making grandma food with playdoh and practicing our cutting and sticking skills.
23 January 2023 - Happy Chinese New Year
We have been learning about Chinese New Year. This year is the year of the rabbit. We made and decorated lanterns. We dressed up in traditional clothes and used chopsticks whilst exploring rice.
13 January 2023 - Who has been eating my porridge?
We have been learning about the traditional tale ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’
We retold the story, made porridge that was just right and tasted it. We also explored the porridge oats filling up bowls and exploring the texture of the oats.
9 December 2022 - Christmas has come to Nursery!
We have been busy, busy, busy in Nursery. Decorating stars for our nativity play. Decorating our Christmas tree with tinsel and baubles. Exploring the glitter (flour) snow with paint brushes and mark making. As well as practising our songs for the Nativity.
25 November 2022 - It’s coming home!
Last week we were learning all about the World Cup 2022 that is taking part in Qatar.
We learnt about the rules of football, played penalty shoot out in the garden and painted England flags
18 November 2022 - Happy Birthday!
This week we have been learning all about birthdays. We talked about when our birthday is and how we celebrate it.
We learnt how to make cupcakes. We added the ingredients to a bowl, mixed it and baked the cupcakes. We finally decorated them with buttercream and decorated sprinkles.
11 November 2022 - Remember, Remember…
Over the last 2 weeks we have been learning about different important events.
We learnt about bonfire night and we created amazing firework paintings with toilet rolls. We also learnt about remembrance day and the poppy. The children used potatoes to print and create poppies as well joining in with the 2 minute silence.
21 October 2022 - Happy Diwali!
This week Nursery have been learning all about Diwali. Mrs Cooper drew out a rangoli pattern and added coloured rice. The children also were able to add rice to the rangoli designs. We also made diva lamps using salt dough and painted them. Finally we made Diwali cards for the families who celebrate Diwali.
14 October 2022 - Is there a doctor in the house?
This week Nursery have been learning about different occupations. We have been learning about doctors, paramedics and people who work in hospitals. Our role play has changed into a hospital and we have enjoyed dressing up.
We also took part in an activity where we put plasters on a person where they hurt themselves.
7 October 2022 - Friends and Family
This week in Nursery we have been learning about family. The children created pictures of their family selecting all the people that live in their home. We have also been making lots of friends and learning our friends names.
