The Governors' Role
The governing body has overall responsibility for the school and ensures that it provides a high quality education for all its children by working with the Head teacher and the rest of the staff to raise standards. The governors’ role is broken down under the following three headings:

- Aims and ethos of the school
- The policies under which the school will operate
Accountability
- Accountable for the school’s overall performance
- Ensure that the National Curriculum is delivered

- Set the staffing structure
- Responsibility for the school’s budget
- Handle complaints
- Maintenance of school buildings
Critical Friend

- Hold the school to account
- Being supportive but equally challenging
- Monitor and evaluate the school performance
